Storage:

UNCOOKED MILLED WHITE RICE:

  1. If stored properly, milled rice will keep almost indefinitely in the refrigerator or freezer.
  2. Once opened, rice should be stored in a tightly closed container that keeps out moisture and other contaminants.

UNCOOKED WHOLE GRAIN RICE (BROWN):

  1. If stored properly, whole grain rice will keep for over 6 months in the freezer.
  2. Once opened, rice should be stored in a tightly closed container that keeps out moisture and other contaminants.

COOKED RICE:

  1. Cooked rice may be stored in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days, or frozen up to 6 months.
  2. The USDA recommends to cool rice to 70 degrees Fahrenheit within 2 hours of cooking.
  3. Store cooled rice at 41 degrees Fahrenheit or below.
